Unfortunately in todays business climate there are too many companies selling "No-Experience Necessary", "Work-from-Home" Medical Billing opportunities. In fact, there are more scam companies than legitimate ones. Due to these companies the medical billing field has been saturated with Billing Services beginning with the notion of offering a service they could not possibly deliver. A vast majority of these services have never filed an insurance claim, spoke with an insurance company, or even worked in a practice setting.

I have heard several horror stories from physicians entrusting their billing to services that made promises and unfortunatly these promises fell short, and left the physician with no recourse. Some services have gone as far as holding claims ransom to collect more from the provider. These common practices have created an uneasiness amongst potential clients who could actually benefit greatly from a legitimate billing service.

Your billing service or billing staff will be the most important decision you will make for your practice. The days of hiring an individual with little or no education to work in any part of your health care facility are long gone. Medicare, coupled with HIPPA, federal and state laws have made it mandatory for providers of health care to protect themselves, their patients and their reimbursement. In order to do this successfully, a provider must look for educated and credentialed individuals who have a firm grasp of regulations and the ability to put these guidelines into practice. If your facility is not equipped with the staff to review and appeal denied claims, the facility is in essence"leaving money on the table" and allowing the carrier to ignore money owed.

I have personally handled thousands of claims in the practice environment and as a billing service. I did not buy a "Do-it-Yourself", "No-Experience Necessary" Medical Billing kit expecting to make it rich overnight. I started CPC Unlimited because I love what I do! After visiting many offices I was amazed at how many billers actually hate there job. Why do I love it?
